# Asset Manager

Asset Manager is a separately registered Studio extension. Open it from the app rail to work with the project's files. Your role and project restrictions determine whether you can upload or delete.

## Upload and find a file

1. Choose **Upload** and select a file appropriate for your project.
2. Wait for the upload to complete and confirm the asset appears.
3. Use **Search assets**, **File type**, or **Tags** to find it again.
4. Switch between Grid and List to inspect the library in the layout that suits the task.

Use descriptive, non-sensitive filenames for tutorial data. If uploading fails, record the error and check permissions, file constraints, project storage, and request configuration.

## Reuse an asset

Upload creates an asset in the library. To use it in a record, select it through the record's configured asset field and save that record. The asset's **Copy ID** action identifies the record; **Copy URL** produces a delivery URL. Those values serve different purposes.

See [organize assets](/docs/studio/asset-manager/organize-assets), [asset APIs](/docs/api/assets), and [image delivery](/docs/api/images). Do not infer URL confidentiality from Studio membership alone.
