# Project Paused

Studio shows this error when the project is paused. While a project is paused, you cannot save changes, and the project's GraphQL API, automations, and agent chat are stopped.

Pausing is a project setting. It is not a problem with your browser, your login, or the Studio app.

## Why a Project Is Paused

A Pro project can be paused for one of these reasons:

- **Someone paused it on purpose.** Project owners can pause a project from **Settings → General** so it stops using paid on-demand usage.
- **The project reached its fixed monthly limit.** If On-Demand Usage is set to **Fixed**, Flexkit pauses that project when its on-demand overage reaches the monthly limit.
- **On-demand usage is disabled.** If On-Demand Usage is set to **Disabled** and the project uses its included Pro allocation, Flexkit pauses the project instead of charging overage.

On-Demand Usage is per project. Pausing one project does not pause other projects on the same team.

Free projects that reach their included limits become read-only. They are not paused.

## What You Can Do

If you are not a project owner or billing admin, ask one of them to restore access.

**If someone paused the project on purpose**, a project owner can:

1. Open the project in the Flexkit dashboard.
2. Go to **Settings → General**.
3. Choose **Unpause Project**.

**If the project was paused by on-demand usage**, **Unpause Project** is disabled. A project owner or billing admin should:

1. Open the project in the Flexkit dashboard.
2. Go to **Settings → On-Demand Usage**.
3. Raise the **Fixed** monthly limit, or switch the monthly limit to **Unlimited**.

If On-Demand Usage is **Disabled**, they can switch to **Fixed** or **Unlimited**, or wait for included usage to reset.

After access is restored, refresh Studio and continue working as usual.
